Filipa Franco

Was born on October 2, 1996. From an early age, she showed a great interest in the arts, especially dance, with which she created a particular affinity because of her parents, dancers of the National Ballet Company since 1985. She participated in performances such as The Nutcracker and Dama das Camélias, in 2004 and 2005, at the invitation of Mehmet Balkan, then director of the company. 

She began taking classical piano lessons at age 12 with Adeline Esteves da Silva.

 Later on, in 2014, she began her jazz studies, taking private lessons with singer Rita Maria and, that same year, joined Jazz School Luís Villas-Boas, where she completed a four-year regular course in Vocal Jazz. In addition, she complemented her studies with two years of Jazz Piano, as a second instrument, in the third and fourth years of the course.

In 2018, e entered Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, studying with professors such as Maria João and João Paulo Esteves da Silva, among many other musicians of great prominence in Portugal, having graduated in 2021. That same year, she continues her studies as a graduate student at the same university.

Filipa’s artistic projects include “Fiasco,” a duet with pianist Vasco Pimentel and her quintet, where she’s developing an original repertoire with her compositions. 

She has been teaching singing Vocal Jazz in person and online since 2019.
